Key indicators
-
1Annual 1 million MWh of electricity
-
322.5Investments, million US dollars
-
800New jobs during the construction period
-
80New jobs during operation
Project goals: The hybrid project goal is to mitigate the risk of oil production losses at KMG’s subsidiaries because of emergency restrictions and outages at the Mangystau power unit and is unique for Kazakhstan, as it simultaneously ensures stability of energy supply and enables use of ~ 40% of green electricity from RES.
The hybrid power plant (Hybrid Project) is based on the combined electricity generation from Renewable Sources (wind and solar) and a Gas Power Plant (GasPP), which helps to:
- Totally reduce CO2 emissions into the atmosphere (share of low-carbon generation ~ 37%)- Steadily supply electricity by balancing between fluctuating RES generation with the Gas Power Plant maneuverable capacities
Main consumers: Usten and Karamandybas fiedls, Ozenmunaigas JSC - 91 MW, “Albian-Cenomanian Stage PWRU-2” Project - 2.06 MW, the new KazGPP plant - 9.5 MW
